The 83rd Academy Awards is just around the bend. To celebrate this momentous awards night, Fully Booked will hold a Pre-Oscar Film Fest at Bonifacio High Street branch. They have a 62-seater theater they call the U-View that is situated at the Basement level. Four classic films from the past that garnered an Oscar award will be shown today until February 28, 2011. Titles include Ben-Hur, It's a Wonderful Life, On the Waterfront and True Grit. Admission is absolutely FREE. Check out the screening times and synopsis. The only film I have watched from all the titles is It's a Wonderful Life which I gives a 2 thumbs up. This movie is often played every X-mas season in the US for its heartwarming story.

Metrobank Art and Design Excellence (MADE) National Competition is a yearly contest that aims to recognize young painters, sculptors and architects that excels in their field of art and design. The tuna sashimi were separating for some strange reason. Now I eat sushi a lot and I don't usually see sashimi that doesn't stay intact.

Finally the long awaited ramen arrived!


Chasyu Ramen - P195

The Chasyu (roast pork) ramen I ordered was just right. It had plenty of pork slices, noodles were firm and chewey and soup was superb as well. The Chasyu had a soy sauce based (shoyu) soup.

RaiRaiKen has 3 types of soup base - Salt (Shio), Soy Sauce (Shoyu) and Soy Bean (Miso). Each of their ramen incorporates one type of sauce that best suites and enhances the flavor of the ramen ingredients.

I also go to try Mel's Beek Yakiniku ramen which also used the shoyu sauce. The soup and flavor was quite distinct even if it used the same soup base.

Midnight Mercato @ The Fort

Later tonight, and the succeeding nights of every Friday and Saturday from 11PM - 3AM, you can finally satisfy your taste buds for new food discoveries. Just go over at the corner of 30th Avenue and 9th Street, Bonifacio Global City and look for the big tent that says Mercato Central. Welcome to Midnight Mercato!




Discoveries should always be personal. So instead of me showing you food stalls and dishes I came across, let me present you with some photos Mel and I took.



Only 1 tent was set up. Maybe in the next coming weeks, the other tent at the back will be full as well. The good thing about the setup last week we went was that there were ample tables for everyone to sit and eat comfortably.







Outside were mostly grilled food items















Once you get there, you can't help but to buy and try out some of the food items.



We bought mochi ice cream



We also purchased some black rice and organic soya bean



The last thing we bought were some roasted macadamia nuts that were still shelled. Removing the macadamia from its shell is the one of the things I look forward to. There's just something exciting about the experience of separating the shell using the metal sheet tool.



However, when we got home, we were quite disappointed to find most of the macadamias brown. We weren't sure if it was already bad so we didn't eat it. We called up the seller and told us to go back and get another fresh pack.

You don't have to be close to the bay to watch the amazing fireworks display at the 2nd Philippine International Pyromusical Competition happening every week starting Feb 12 until March 12, 2011 at SM Mall of Asia. AXN Beyond is celebrating 2011 with a big bang with The Beyond Awesome Contest 2011. Have your cameras on standby when you tune in to AXN Beyond so you can immediately take a photo of yourself with the password of the week that will be flashed on your TV screens. To know the exact timing of when the password will be shown, you may check for hints on AXN Beyond's Facebook page. The number of prizes will depend on the number of participants that will be joining the contest so make sure you share this with your friends.
