Anthem Composition Contest

The University of the Philippines Alumni Association (UPAA) just finished writing the lyrics to their new anthem and they are searching for talented composers to who can inspire love for the Alma Mater to it. The contest is open to all amateur and professional music composers of Filipino descent both living in the Philippines and abroad. The composer who comes up with the best musical composition that best suits the anthem will win P30,000 and two roundtrip tickets to Boracay courtesy of SEAIR.



Contest Requirements:
  • Open to amateur and professional music composers of Filipino descent, including those living abroad
Contest Mechanics:
  1. Create a musical composition for UPAA's new anthem which should capture love of Alma Mater

      UP, our Alma Mater forever!
      What memories of your nurture we cherish,
      What clouds of fear and doubt you banish!
      We stand now your Oblation to Philippine honor,
      We seek always, no matter the cost, her glory.

      Our people once carried us on their shoulders

  2. Composition Guidelines
    • Original and unpublished
    • Can be sung a capella or with musical accompaniment
  3. Entries must comprise of music or lyrics sheet and piano or guitar chords along with your complete contact information
  4. Entries must be stamped with a Philippine addressed and sent via snail mail or delivered to UP Bahay ng Alumni, Room 211, Magsaysay Avenue, UP Diliman, Quezon City, 1101

Contest Period: Submission Deadline - November 30, 2010

Contest Prize:
  • One Winner
    • P30,000 from UPAA
    • Two roundtrip tickets to Boracay courtesy of SEAIR
    • Song will be performed by the UP Singing Ambassadors at the Carillon Concert and UP Diliman Lantern Parade

  • "Composer will keep the copyright of his/her music but will waive royalties when any member of the UP System uses the composition."
