To inspire the eco-friendly attitude of the Filipino youth today, the Department of Energy, Energy Regulatory Commission and Energy Council of the Philippines and other corporate partners launched an essay writing tilt with the theme "Tackling the Challenges of the New Energy Future.” Students enrolled in undergraduate courses or Master’s degree within 2009-2010 are eligible to join this contest. Winners get to take home P50K, P30K, and P20K respectively. Hopefully, they use the money they win to promote a sustainable future!

Contest Requirements:
  • Filipino citizen, 16-30 years old, enrolled during academic year (2009-2010) or at the entry submission in a four or five-year undergraduate course or post-graduate degree (Master’s level) in a college or university in the
Contest Mechanics:
  1. Theme: “The Role of the Youth: In Tackling the Challenges of the New Energy Future”
  2. Entry Guidelines
    • Download application form (soon to be posted), complete and attach a passport size picture
    • Write a one-page summary stating your career goals and aspirations
    • Must contain 1,000 to 2,000 words
    • Attach a proof of enrollment in a university/college i.e. photocopy of recent ID or University certification
  3. Submit your entries to Energy Library Project Office 9/F Wholesale Electricity Spot Market Robinsons-Equitable Tower ADB Avenue, Ortigas, Pasig City
  4. Judging Criteria
    • 40% Substance
    • 30% Writing style and clarity of points
    • 30% Originality (of concepts and ideas)
  5. One entry per person

Contest Period: Submission Deadline - June 30, 2010

Contest Prize:
  • Grand Prize - P50,000 plus trophies and a chance to be nominated as Youth Representative for an energy conference overseas
  • 2nd prize - P30,000 plus trophies
  • 3rd prize - P20,000 plus trophies
