okay lemme tell you my jansport story.
Mag level up kumbaga.

My Jansport bag has always been my trusted and faithful companion in my adventures. If I were Don Quixote, my bag would be my Sancho Panza; if I were Butch Cassidy, my bag would be the Sundance Kid; if I were Batman, my bag would be Robin. You get the picture: my bag is my constant sidekick.
As a (struggling, if I may say) surfer in my home province of La Union, I have come to rely on my Jansport bag to store my essential stuff. Well, except for the surfboard, obviously. But my bag contains everything I need—sunblock, board shorts, extra clothes, wallet, keys, cellphones, iPod, a book to read during downtime, toiletries, whatnot, the list goes on and on…
It’s very sturdy, able to withstand the tortures of time, the elements and my occasional carelessness (leaving it out in the sand and glaring sun isn’t particularly bag-friendly). But my reliable bag has managed to stick with me through thick and thin, rain or shine—and for that, I am eternally grateful!

It was love at first sight when I saw my drak grey Hedgren slingbag. Since then, it has been my companion for more than 10 years. I first bought it when I went on a European Mariam Pilgrimage. We travelled to the beautiful cities of France, Spain, Switzerland and Italy. My hedgren slingbag provided me a sense of security whenever I hear stories of gypsies attempting to snatch the bags of tourists. I'm able to carry with it the most essential things I need for travelling. One unforgettable experience in Rome was when the group I was with were given an invitation to have a private audience with Pope John Paul II in Castlegandofo.
I also brought my hedgren slingbag on my honeymoon trip to Thailand. Again, it proved to be reliable and durable.
Last month, my younger brother said, he is leaving for Dubai. He asked for the Hedgren slingbag which he occassionally would borrow from me from time to time. I gave the bag to my brother wishing at the same time, that it will bring him luck and take care of him just as it has taken care of me.
When I said goodbye to my brother at the airport, in my thoughts I was also saying farewell to my every faithful Hedgren slingbag.

I have this Jansport backpack with me for already 6 years, and it has been quite a journey for me and this bag. I Acquired this bag through a gift from my siblings and since then this bag has been with me through my daily routines. with the Jansports large space, dividers and pockets, together with its water resistant coating and cool design I prefer using this bag more often than my other bags.
When I go to the gym, play basketball or badminton I always use this bag because of its sporty looks and its quite sturdy. This bag has also gone places like when me and my friends went hiking at Mt. Apo, visited beaches like Boracay and Puerto Galera, had international expiriences in Hongkong, China, Macau and Thailand. In short this bag has gone a long long way and still the journey never ends there. It has been my everyday bag, my all around bag, my lifetime bag.

I have a Hedgren sling bag when I was still studying at college, It was a sunny afternoon when I got out of school and was preparing to go home, when suddenly a stranger lurking at the corner of the street came rushing at me and tried to grab my bag, luckily the bag was sturdy enough that the strap didn't give way. I shouted for help and some onlookers give chase and the snatcher was apprehended. It was also that same year that I accidentaly left my hedgren sling bag in one of my classes, it contained valuables like my wallet, cellphone, identification cards, ATM, notes and the most important of all my thesis papers. Luckily a good samaritan janitor got my bag and surrendered it to the Lost & Found department of our school. I had a sigh of relief when I was informed that they found my bag, it was a matter of passing or failing my thesis, luckily i passed with flying colors. After the incidents I learned to treasure this bag, it was a memorable bag. A bag that I consider my lucky charm

Fashionista Mom?
Last year, I picked up reusable store bags from a famous mall in the heart of Makati intended for family members and close relatives . I gave one to my mom and she really made over it, saying how pretty she thought it was and also handy to have. She kept thanking me, which I thought was kind of weird, but I didn’t say anything about it to her.
The next week, she stopped by to visit and had the reusable bag hung over her arm. She thought it was a PURSE! She had it loaded down with stuff and was excited that I had found such a nice big “purse” for her.
When I told her what it really was we had a good laugh about it the remainder of the afternoon.

im not really a fan of jansport. its too big for my daily need to use (when i only put a couple stuff in it..) it is hopelessly impractical compared to other bags that serves the same purpose.
and when i was in Highschool, the way i think of it is having one is seems like a status symbol.
But one Red and black Jansport bag which i had as a christmas gift changed all of my perceptions. that it is nothing but a common bag with a pricey tag.
that it would just be like an ordinary bag, a bag that would only last more than just a year of abuse.
i even argued on why buy me that bag when i could settle on an ordinary one.
Suprisingly, it did lasted quite long.. very long actually. its durable and in terms quality compared to my other bags is simply unparalleled. it is really a good investment - for something you could use every day. the bag is now 5years old and yet there's just a little signs of fading.
throw it in a washer by the time its dried up, it would look just almost like new - just like Christmas day.. except ofcourse the smell of the soap hehe =)
from then on, Jansport Bag always comes as my first choice.. may it be as a gift or for my self.

I will never forget my almost four years with my bag. In almost four years I worked in an IT service provider company catering to clients in entire Luzon. My bag carries my tools and things. Every time I went to long travel my bag is with me. When I am in the land of strangers my bag is the only familiar thing that reminds me at home………. Now, that I quit my job it becomes a habit to go out with a bag even if is empty……….. I feel naked without it!

I admit I’m a loyal bagger. I mean, if I like a bag, I tend to use them over and over for many years to come. My bag will look tired and worn out before I’ll decide to find another one. Its not really about the cost, its just…before I decide to buy a bag I get picky. It gets checked for functionality, workmanship and design.
Its not a casual thing for me, its like a RELATIONSHIP. hehe!
My fiance once brought me a bag to replace my worn out black laptop bag, it took 2 months of prodding and pleasing before I replaced my old one. Even then I kept it in my drawer in case I decide to use it again.
I only replace it because I didn’t want to hurt his feelings. Really…
When I saw this contest the first thing that cross my mind was my boyfriend and his jansport bags (firefly edition, classic light blue, classic dark green and the rusty orange). I would join for him and share with you guys how vital his Jansport bags to him and how it became part of his great experiences. Why? Because his jansport bags has been always with him, wherever he go.
It became reliable to him specially when he needs to bring so much stuff. And also jansport bags is so much into fashion, he always match the color of his tees to the color of jansport he used. One thing I like jansport is it has a unique style that matches everything. I love it!
Ever since jansport introduce here in the Philippines, every bag is worth something which is not usual, but I see my boyfriend really takes time to invest to buy a new jansport bag. At least jansport it really priceless when it comes to quality, the one which my boyfriend have is the classic light blue backpack, the bag has been with him for almost 7 years! the zippers are still zipping great, but of course due to everyday use the color is not the same anymore. At least it is still JANSPORT that my boyfriend used to like.

Ever since, I have always been fascinated with backpacks. I find it as one of the greatest inventions made to man. Maybe I'm just exaggerating but true enough, I find backpacks very useful-not only it stores and protects your stuff, but it can also be your trusty pillow when out in a cold and chilly night.
Four years ago, I bought my first ever Jansport bag. It might be a little too pricey but I guess it was more than my money's worth. Since I bought my Jansport bag, it has always been with me--in school, during out-of-town trips, gimicks, and now I bring it in the office. It has always been a ritual that every morning before I leave the house, I would carry my 'backpack' like a child playing horse-back riding on his father's back. I find comfort with my bag--sort of like a protection that no one can do harm to me (like stab me on my back) as I traverse the unruly streets of Manila. My backpack serves as my comfort blanket, it makes me confident that I can do anything with my bag on my back. If only my Jansport bag could speak maybe it would say a lot about me-like how I stuff it with loads of hand-outs and kilos of books that would make me look like a hunchback when I was still in college, sometimes food (literally) that would smell as I open my bag in a room, and most of the time I fill it with unnecessary things like ummm...trash, lots of them. But it's not all the time my bag transforms into a trash bin, but it also do serve its purpose as a 'backpack.' I love traveling and backpacking especially here in the Philippines reason why I always make it a point to bring my bag with me. Every traveling experience wouldn't be complete without my backpack on because it serves as my life support, my condensed locker room and sleeping bag rolled into one piece of baggage. My bag is my comfort zone as I leave all the convenience of the Metro. Traveling can be tiresome but if someone can complain more than me after a tiring day, definitely it would be my bag. My trusty Jansport bag--soiled, dragged, drenched in salt water, bumped and exposed under the scorching heat of the sun but still, serving its purpose. The good thing about my Jansport bag is that it never goes out of style, I can be rugged and casual with it and thesame time bring it to the office.
I guess I will never outgrow my fascination with backpacks. I couldn't imagine a day without my Jansport bag on; I want to grow old with it, as it grows old with me. It has been a part of me and my personality. So each day, as I put my backpack on it will always remind me that life can be difficult at times but something is always on my back--carrying heaps of my stuff (and trash) but it never complains yet remains loyal to me as it serve its purpose.

I hate bags.
Those were the first words uttered out of my mouth when asked why I didn’t carry one during my high school days.
Why not?
She would ask.
I explained to her I don’t see the point. Why do I need one when all of my necessary items can fit into the pocket of my skirt uniform. Brush, cellphone, wallet, gum, and a ball-point pen, all of which could have fit easily inside the compartment of my ensemble. Plus, I added, bags are over-rated, you shouldn’t rely on them too much since they’re just an added burden. This was me before. I didn’t realize that I was just waiting for the right bag to shift my perception.
As the days passed, it grew harder and harder to ignore the significance of a school bag. Homework would be piling up in heaps of paper; quizzes the next day would require the information found in a heavyset book; lunches placed in stainless steel lunch boxes would soon call for something to contain it whilst walking to school. I knew it was inevitable.
I had to buy a bag.
The bag my mom bought me was a light green sling-type Hedgren messenger bag. It was not too large, but it was spacious enough to accommodate most of my problems. There were enough compartments to hold most of my smaller everyday items. The quick release buckle on the front makes taking it off a breeze. And the way that it drapes across my back gives me a sense of calm, knowing that I have my stuff tucked away in this synthetic sack. Of course, I wouldn’t hurt if I think I looked good wearing it as well, which I did believe.
Nowadays, I don’t use it as much anymore. Looking for a job can be tough, and most of the things I bring to interviews require a much heftier sized bag. I knew I had to trade in my beloved bag for practical reasons. At this moment, it’s tucked away safely away from prying eyes, and when the time comes that I have the opportunity to use it again, I have this mental picture of me opening the wooden closet that holds it, and a voice inside my head will speak up.
This is the bag you fell in love with. It is totally awesome.
Thanks for reading my story.

Me and My Backpack, a 7-year old boy's story as told to his mom...
Everyday I bring a backpack to school. I don't really need to because I have a big stroller bag, but I still do.
I wait for my mom to pick me up after school. She says she cannot park if she goes there early so she picks me up at least thirty minutes after the bell rings. This is the time I open my backpack and get my snacks and drinks. I also stash books I borrow from the library in my backpack so I have something to read. I also put my wallet in my backpack so I can buy food or drink from the canteen in case my baon runs out. My backpack is my friend, it holds everything I need until my mom comes to get me. It keeps me company while I wait, and I can't imagine being without it.
I love my backpack, even now that it's a little worn I wouldn't exchange it for any other bag in the world.
Kenshin Lei, 7 years old -- as told to Rowena Wendy Lei
I graduated from the University of the Philippines Manila. During that four years of college, I only used 1 bag – my green backpack which accompanied me through thick and thin. It was given to me by mom as a birthday gift during my last year in high school. Knowing that I will soon be entering the university, my mom made sure I will be having a sturdy bag to carry all my stuff (which turned out to be just a notebook and my kikay kit since I seldom buy textbooks for myself back in college). At first I was turned off with the backpack given to me – imagine, its green! I would have preferred pink! But as time went by, my green backpack proved to be very useful. For one, I was not able to have it washed all those for years and it still looked the same green backpack I received during my birthday!
I was able to easily fit in my new university with my green backpack. After all, I am at the University of the Philippines where everyone uses no other bag but a backpack. Plus, the green color matched the University’s official colors!
My green backpack was my constant companion all those four years. I hiked with it, went to rallies with it and survived pickpocket fiascos with it. Yeah, my bag was slashed two times – both times while I was inside the jeepney. The zipper was opened twice at Quiapo and taft Avenue. But I’m happy to say that my bag and I survived in one piece!
My bag witnessed my transition from the high school girl to the grown up I have become. And my bag transitioned too! It started clean before I entered UP. After four years, my bag is already unrecognizable with all those button pins attached to it – from the pins used by political groups in campus, pictures of Che Guevarra and Mao Zedong to the more conservative logos of my organization. My green backpack became a testimony of the political ideology I was supporting during my college years.
But wait, did I mention that my green backpack also shared my crying moments? We did! I was in Baguio when a guy whom I dated for sometime told me that he liked another guy. So there I was, under the Oblation at UP Baguio, with my green backpack. But since I was too embarrassed to let others know I was crying, I cried my heart out while covering my face with my backpack. I sobbed all afternoon but thank God, my back pack is absorbent, it absorbed all the tears!
After graduation, I let by bag retire. If I had a choice, I would have used it in law school. But nah – its time to get a new one. It has been years since I parted with my green backpack. But it shall remain a proof that yes, I survived my four years of college -- tattered, but in one piece.
