2015 MMFF New Wave Animation
Do you have a special gift or talent in creating animated movies? Then share it with a wider audience by joining the 2015 MMFF New Wave Animation Competition. This is in support to the growing art of animated filmmaking in the local film industry. Moreover, the main objective of the competition is to recognize the country's pool of talents in producing such type of movies and the creativity in telling stories through visual narratives. You may request for the application form by leaving a message via the MMFF New Wave FB page. Create a twelve-minute, frame by frame animated film that also depicts Filipino values. Then, along with the completely filled out form, submit your entry at the Office of the MMFF Secretariat. From among all the entries, only five (5) will be shortlisted as finalists and will be shown at a selected cinema(s). Prizes at stake are P100,000 for Best Picture and P50,000 cash for Special Jury Prize.
Contest Requirements:
- Open to all Filipino animators (professional and student/amateur). Non-residents of the country may join as long as you have a Filipino lineage
- Log on to and like the MMFF New Wave Facebook page and leave your email address via a private message so they can send you the application form
- Entry Guidelines
- Entries must have a maximum total running time of twelve (12) minutes
- The entries must have been completed from the year 2014 onwards
- Entry works shall be made "frame by frame," including computer graphics animation
- Entries shall not have been, in any way, commercially exhibited locally and/or abroad
- Everything should be your original creation. In case copyrighted characters, scripts, music, etc. are used, you must first secure an agreement/permission from the copyright owner
- Any kind of modification except addition of necessary subtitles will not be allowed for the final entries
- Submission Guidelines
- 5 DVDs – must contain a color bar of 10 seconds and followed by a sound signal 0dbs (1,000 cycles per second) and a black leader of 5 seconds at the beginning. Technical specifications: full or high-resolution .avi data file, with a frame size of 720 x 480, and a compression of DV NTSC
- The filename shall have the following format: Title_Surname of the Representative.mp4/mov/.avi/etc.

- Judging Criteria
- 25% Content (Originality, creativity)
- 25% Technical Quality
- 25% Depiction of Filipino values
- 25% Overall Impact
- Five (5) entries will be chosen as finalists and will be shown at a selected cinema(s). Finalists must comply with the following additional requirements in preparation for judges and public screening:
- Five (5) copies of the film entry’s 5-10-second movie trailer in DVD / AVI format
- Film entry with English subtitles (if the language used is other than Filipino language) in DCP format
- Two (2) Playbill Poster Designs
- 20 inches by 30 inches (20” x 30”)
- JPEG format
- Must be submitted in soft copies/burned CDs
- Additional requirements as may be determined by the New Wave Committee
- Selected finalists shall be exclusively hosted only by HOOQ from the duration of the Festival to five (5) years thereafter in order to showcase the films in length
- The decision of the Board of Jurors is final and irrevocable
- All submitted entries and materials shall remain in the MMFF's archives, but the copyright of the material remains with the producer/director/creator
