Indie Film Competition on Navy

In celebration of Philippine Navy's (PN) 113th anniversary, they coordinated with the Cultural Center of the Philippines to launch their first Independent film competition. Open to all professional and amateur Filipino filmmakers from schools, independent organizations, including the Philippine Navy personnel and their dependents. Participants must make a 60-minute (maximum) film focusing on PN's anniversary team "Philippine Navy: A Vital for Peace, Security, and Development of our Maritime Nation." Prizes to be won are P40,000, P25,000, and P15,000 respectively. The goal of the event is to strengthen the awareness of the navy to all stakeholders involved in upholding security, development, and peace. In addition, to emphasize that the Philippine Navy is your partner in edifying the whole nation.




Contest Requirements:
  • All professional and amateur Filipino filmmakers from schools, independent organizations, including the Philippine Navy personnel and their dependents
  • NOTE: Since the competition is in tie up with the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), previous winning titles (i.e. as Best Short Film or Special Jury Prize) in the short film category of the CCP’s Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival and the Gawad CCP Para sa Alternatibong Pelikula at Video are not eligible to join the competition
Contest Mechanics:
  1. Log on to The Philippine Navy Website and download PN Independent Film Competition Mechanics
  2. Get entry form online or at the Public Affairs Branch (Office of the Assistant Chief of Naval Staff for Civil Military Operations, N7, Headquarters Philippine Navy, Naval Station Jose Andrada, Pres. M. Roxas Boulevard, Manila) during office hours (8AM - 5PM), Monday to Friday
  3. Entry Guidelines
    • Entries should be in digital video format (i.e. digital editing post work)
    • All works must be strictly independent works and not produced for commercial screening. School-based works (e.g. theses) are eligible
    • Music used in any entry must be original, licensed or in the public domain.
    • Entries should be presented depicting the theme “Philippine Navy: A Vital Partner for Peace, Security and Development of our Maritime Nation”
    • Dialogue should be primarily in Filipino or any Philippine language as appropriate, with English subtitles
    • Must not exceed 60 minutes

    • Conformes/Authorizations:
      • Conforme 1 (signed by person submitting entry): "This is to certify that the above mentioned entry to the competition was produced after (date of production)."
      • Conforme 2 (signed by the owner of film rights): "I hereby grant permission for the above-mentioned work to be entered in the Philippine Navy Independent Film Competition. I hereby declare all the above information true and correct. I have carefully read the rules and regulations of the competition and agree to abide by and
        be bound by them."
      • Authorization (signed by the owner of film rights): "I authorize the dubbing of my entry solely for the competition’s promotional and archival use and for other purposes as stated in the contest rules."
    • Photo stills, to be submitted on separate VCD, as a JPEG file (minimum 150 resolution):
      • Two (2) 5"x7" production stills (shots from the film itself)
      • Two (2) 5"x7" production stills (behind the scenes)
  5. All entries should be submitted at the Office of the Assistant Chief of Naval Staff for Civil Military Operations, N7 (Attn: Public Affairs Branch), Headquarters Philippine Navy, Naval Station Jose Andrada, 2335 Pres. M. Roxas Boulevard, Manila
  6. Submission Requirements
    • Accomplished entry form
    • 6 DVDs with English subtitles
    • 2 Mini-DVs with English subtitles
    • 1 Data file with English subtitles for HD playback
  7. Each participant is allowed to submit only one (1) entry
  8. Entries selected as finalists cannot be withdrawn from the competition
