Solve Youth Migration
It's that time again for the yearly video and essay contest of The World Bank which goes back from 2004. Last year's theme about youth unemployment awarded Riska Mirzalina of Indonesia the 1st prize for winning the essay category. This year's theme will revolve around Solving Youth Migration. Winners of both video and essay contest will take home CASH prizes in USD. Finalists will also get to fly to Paris, France in May 2011, and attend the Annual Bank Conference on Development Economics.
Contest Requirements:
- Open to all young people, students and non-students alike, between the ages of 18 (by May 15, 2011) and 25, from all countries of the world
- Finalist or winner of a previous edition of the World Bank International Essay Competition, you are no longer eligible to compete
- Share your ideas on how the youth can tackle the issue on the opportunities, challenges and implications of youth migration through an essay or video. Read more info on the issue here.
- Essay Guidelines
- Maximum of 4000 words (about 10 pages of standard text)
- .doc or .pdf format
- Summary of no more than 250 words (for pre-selection)
- English, French or Spanish
- Video Guidelines
- Maximm of 2 minutes

- One participant may only submit one work per category (essay and/or video)

- January 17, 2011 - Launch of the Essay Competition
- March 17, 2011 - Deadline for submissions
- Week of May 2 - Finalists of the essay category announced and winner of the video category announced
- May 30 - June 1, 2011- Final Jury in Paris, France (only finalists in the essay category and winner of the video category participate)
- June 1, 2011- Award Ceremony during the ABCDE conference in Paris, France
- Essay
- Eight finalists will participate in the Final Jury in in Paris, France in May 2011, and attend the Annual Bank Conference on Development Economics (ABCDE). All expense paid by World Bank
- Money awards:
- 1st prize: 3,000 USD
- 2nd prize: 2,000 USD
- 3rd prize: 1,000 USD

- Author of the winning video will be invited for a screening at the occasion of the Annual Bank Conference on Development Economics (ABCDE), held in in Paris, France in May 2011
