FREE Cineforum on Migration

Saturday, December 11, 2010 dfg 0 Comments

In celebration of the Month of Overseas Filipinos and International Migrants Day, the Inter-Agency Committee (IAC) organized a FREE film screening of two OFW themed films, namely Rigodon and Fidel, in behalf of Philippine Migrants Rights Watch (PMRW) and co-chaired by the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO). The Cineforum on Migration marks the first time independent films will be screened simultaneously in 19 SM Cinemas on December 13 and 14. The CFO hopes these screenings will encourage discourse among students and families of OFWs who are experiencing the travails of having loved ones working overseas. Since this is a government effort, the two movies will be exempt from review and classification which makes it open for everyone.

Rigodon

Rigodon follows the stories of three Filipino immigrants in New York “whose lives intertwine in the age of racial profiling and government crackdown."

Rigodon’s cast include seasoned actors Chin Chin Gutierrez and Joel Torre.

Fidel

Fidel narrates a life of a male overseas Filipino worker on death row for killing his Arabian employer who raped him.

The cast includes Lance Raymundo, Andrea del Rosario, Maria Isabel Lopez, Jao Mapa, Fonz Deza, Von Arroyo, Nonoy Froilan, Marife Necesito and Snooky Serna.
