The British Council is looking for social entrepreneurs that have a vision for positive change. I Am a Changemaker is a business plan competition that awards grants to ideas that are both sustainable and has a social impact. 4 winners from Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao and NCR will EACH receive P100,000. There is also a special prize from Starbucks amounting to P100,000

Contest Requirements:
  • Filipino citizens, 16-28 years old
  • Should not have been convicted in any court of a criminal offense or crime
  • Individuals or organizations funded by the private sector or local government units (LGUs) will not be allowed to join
  • Individuals or organizations representing a non-profit (international or local), a private company or its subsidiary cannot apply
Contest Mechanics:
  1. Log on to British Council website and download application form and documents
  2. Email application form and venture proposal to changemaker@britishcouncil.org.ph
  3. Entries exceeding 5MB in size should enclose a CD copy in a brown envelope and address to

  4. Entry Guidelines:
    • Proposal must address a social problem
    • Only one (1) proposal can be submitted per team
    • Must have demonstrable financial viability (profitable)
    • Should not have won in other business plan or project grant competitions of the same magnitude (national)
    • Should not have been entered on behalf of a non-profit, a private company or a local government unit (LGU)
    • Must be written in plain English
    • Maximum of 30 pages, NOT including appendices
    • Single-spaced, 12-point font, with one-inch margins
    • Microsoft Word 2003 or PDF format
    • A4 paper size
    • Include 2-page CVs of each team member
