Solve Youth Unemployment

World Bank is looking for youth-led solutions on how to solve youth unemployment. If you are between the ages of 18 and 25, state your solution by writing an essay or shooting a short video. Finalists will get the chance to fly to Stockholm, Sweden and take home huge CASH prizes as well as recognition for our country. Check out the winners of the past editions

Contest Requirements:
  • Open to all young people, students and non-students alike, between the ages of 18 and 25, from all countries of the world.
Contest Mechanics:
  1. Share your ideas on how the youth can tackle the issue on unemployment through an essay or video. Read more info on the issue here.
    • Essay Guidelines
      • Maximum of 4000 words (about 10 pages of standard text)
      • .doc or .pdf format
      • Summary of no more than 250 words (for pre-selection)
      • English, French or Spanish
    • Video Guidelines
      • Maximm of 2 minutes
      • Upload video on YouTube
      • English, French or Spanish

Contest Period: Submission Deadline - March 16, 2010

Contest Prize:

    • Essay
      • Eight finalists will participate in the Final Jury in Stockholm, Sweden, in May 2010, and attend the Annual Bank Conference on Development Economics (ABCDE). All expense paid by World Bank
      • Money awards:
        • 1st prize: 3,000 USD
        • 2nd prize: 2,000 USD
        • 3rd prize: 1,000 USD
    • Video
      • Author of the winning video will be invited for a screening at the occasion of the Annual Bank Conference on Development Economics (ABCDE), held in Stockholm, Sweden, in May 2010. All expense paid by World Bank
      • Money awards:
        • 1st prize: 2,000 USD
        • 2nd prize: 1,000 USD
        • 3rd prize: 500 USD
