If volunteer work is your thing, then you definitely should join the Writing Contest for Volunteers. Narrate your experience/s of volunteer work outside your province and you may just Win Powebooks GCs and trips to Boracay, Bohol or Tagaytay. It's time kindhearted folks be rewarded for their charitable hearts.





Contest Requirements:
  • Open to anyone, 16 years and above who has experience in doing volunteer work outside his/her resident province/country, including volunteer work while on vacation
  • Professional writers NOT ALLOWED (i.e. book author, columnist, or member of the editorial staff of any publication)
Contest Mechanics:
  1. Write about your experience in doing volunteer work outside your resident province/country, including volunteer work while on vacation
    • Examples:
      • a person living in Manila volunteers for a project in Batangas
      • an American citizen doing volunteer work while on vacation in Manila
  2. Entry/Essay Guidelines
    • Minimum of 1,000 words and a maximum of 2,000 words
    • Typewritten in English
    • Double-spaced
    • 8.5" x 11" bond paper
    • Font size 12
    • DO NOT WRITE YOUR NAME ON THE ENTRY
  3. Submit in a brown envelope the following
    • Sealed letter size envelope containing the duly accomplished Official Entry Form and Authorization Form. Download the forms by clicking on the links provided, or get them at any Powerbooks branch. The Title of the Entry and the Author’s Pen Name should be written or typed on the face of this sealed envelope.
    • Printout of the entry
    • Soft copy of the entry (CD or floppy disk)
    • Photos of you doing volunteer work
  4. Submit entries to any Powerbooks branch or mail them to the Powerbooks Head Office at #25 Brixton St., Capitol Subdivision, Pasig City
  5. Judging Criteria
    • 50% Content
      • Relevance to theme
      • Impact on the reader
      • Message on volunteerism
    • 25% Mechanics
      • Grammar, punctuation, sentence construction
    • 25% Writing Style
