Gov't Painting Competitions
If you want to show-off your paintings to the world then there is no better place to start than joining Gov't Painting Competitions this 2009! There are currently 2 painting competitions running: LRTART 2009 and GSIS. The former has a theme of “LRT at ang Buhay Pinoy,” while the other has an open theme. Prizes are really BIG. To give you an idea of how BIG, a CASH prize of P200,000 for the grand winner for LRTART, while 2 grand winners of P300,000 for the grand winners for GSIS!Contest Requirements:
- LRTART
- Open to all Filipino citizens age 18 years old and above as of May 30, 2009
- GSIS
- Open to all Filipino artists age 18 years old and above as of April 25, 2009
- LRTART
- Theme - “LRT at ang Buhay Pinoy”
- Artwork Requirements
- Must be made on 2009, original work, and not exhibited, revised, nor entered in any other competition
- Oil or acrylic on canvas only
- 3 feet x 4 feet excluding frame, horizontal or vertical in orientation, and not thicker than 2 inches in depth
- Must be wall bound
- Only box type frame or museum wrap will be accepted
- Entries must be signed but must be covered with masking tape prior to submission (to conceal artist’s identity)
- Wet paintings will not be accepted
- Together with the artwork, submit the ff:
- Completely furnished and signed official entry form
- Signed and notarized affidavit (attached with entry form)
- Photocopy of required ID (ID and /or document showing birth date and citizenship such as passport, school ID, birth certificate, driver’s license, voter’s ID, senior citizen ID)
- One 2x2 ID photo of the artist
- One 4R color photograph of Artist's work bearing the following information at the back:
- Artist’s name, title of work, medium, and selling price
- Submit entries on May 30, 2009, Saturday, between 8:00 am to 5:00 pm ONLY at the LRT Cubao Station West Side.

- GSIS
- Theme - Open Theme
- Obtain Official entry forms at all GSIS offices (Headquarters, Regional Offices and Satellite Offices) and Art Association of the Philippines Office (AAP), c/o Kanlungan Ng Sining, Rizal Park, Manila or download here
- 2 categories
- Representational (any style, realistic, stylized (distorted figure), representational cubism, etc)
- Non-representational (abstract) i.e. purely nonrepresentational, no-recognizable figures and objects
- Painting Requirements
- 3 feet x 4 feet (horizontal or vertical excluding frame) with 10 kilos allowable maximum weight (including frame
- Must be ready for hanging (museum-wrap or box-type is allowed)
- Medium should only be in oil on canvas, acrylic on canvas or watercolor (watercolor entries, any watercolor paper is allowed EXCEPT Illustration Board)
- Must be made on 2009, original work, and not exhibited, revised, nor entered in any other competition
- Entries must be signed but must be covered with masking tape prior to submission (to conceal artist’s identity)
- Indicate/label your Name, Address, and Contact Numbers, Title of the work, Medium, Size, Year and Price at the back
- Wet paintings will not be accepted
- Together with the artwork, submit the ff:
- Signed and notarized affidavit certifying originality of entry and subscription to the rules and regulations of the competition
- Photocopy of one valid ID for age verification (Current School ID, PRC License, Driver’s License, Official Company ID, copy of Passport, Postal ID, SSS ID, GSIS-E-card, Senior Citizen’s ID, Voter’s ID, NBI/Police Clearance, AAPMembership ID.)
- One 1x1 colored ID photo of the artist
- One 5” x 7” color photograph of Artist's work bearing the following information at the back:
- Artist’s name, title of work, medium, and selling price
- Entry must be submitted at the GSIS Museum located at the GSIS Main Office, Financial Center, Reclamation Area, Pasay City (CCP Complex – Diosdado. Macapagal Ave) on APRIL 25, 2009 (SATURDAY) FROM 8:00 AM UNTIL 4:00 PM only
- LRTART
- Submission of entries will be on May 30, 2009 (8am-5pm) ONLY
- GSIS
- Submission of entries will be on April 25, 2009 (8am-4pm) ONLY
Contest Prize:
- LRTART
- One GRAND PRIZE winner receives Php 200,000.00
- Five JURORS’ CHOICE receives Php 100,000.00 each
- Six FINALISTS receives Php 50,000.00 each
- GSIS
- Representational
- 1st Prize - P 300,000.00
- 2nd Prize - 200,000.00
- 3rd Prize - 100,000.00
- Five (5) Honorable Mention - P 50,000 each
