Cebu Pacific Juan for Fun Backpacker Challenge 2016
Missed your chance in last year's challenge? Try your luck this time for an epic adventure for FREE in Cebu Pacific's Juan for Fun Backpacker Challenge 2016. Form a team of three (3) student (or recently graduated) members. Take the quiz on the contest website. Application form can be filled out at the end of the quiz. Upload a 30-60 second audition video featuring all the members of your team. Answer as creatively as possible the question: "What will a One-Year Travel-All-You-Can Pass mean to you?". Upload your video on YouTube or other video sharing sites then paste the link on the application form. You will receive a confirmation email that your application has been received. From all the entries submitted, only five (5) teams will continue on to the Challenge Proper wherein you will go to various Cebu Pacific destinations and complete a list of activities. The Challenge is to have the most number of fun activities within the duration of the trip with the given travel allowance. Document the fun adventure through photos and videos uploaded on your personal social media accounts with the hashtag #JuanforFun2016. Special Fun Challenges are also set up in each destination for you to earn extra points. In the end, the Juan for Fun Ultimate Backpackers will receive three (3) One-Year Travel-All-You-Can Passes to any domestic or international destination (limited to short-haul destinations).
Contest Requirements:
- A team of three (3) members, local residents, 17-22 years old
- Members of the team:
- Should be enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate program in a college or university in the country for the school year 2015-2016 or 2016-2017
- Can also be graduates of school year 2015-2016
- Members need not be students of the same school
- Must be in good physical condition and mental health and must be aware that, and sign releases attesting that, the activities in the challenge may involve risks and hazards, and that participating in the challenge may expose them to these risks
- Log on to juanforfun.com and take the quiz. You can fill out the application form at the end of the quiz
- Entry Guidelines
- Prepare an audition video featuring all three (3) members of your team
- Must answer as creatively as possible the question: "What will a One-Year Travel-All-You-Can Pass mean to you?"
- Must be 30-60 seconds in length
- Your video can be very simple (e.g. taken against a plain background) and will not be judged based on editing and special effects
- Upload your video on YouTube or other video sharing sites
- Paste the link of your audition video on the application form to complete your submission
- Within 48 hours, receive a confirmation email that your application has been received. No confirmation email, no application
- Top 5 teams will move on to compete in the challenge proper
- Judging Criteria

- 60% Juan For Fun Personality - Are you warm, fun, and dynamic just like Cebu Pacific? Will your team be a fitting ambassador of Philippine tourism?
- 40% Answer to the Question - Were you able to convey your answer within the given time? Does your answer reflect your team's spirit?
- Challenge Proper
- 35% Itinerary Creation - Choice of places and attractions, quality and variety of fun activities as scored by a panel of judges
- 30% Fun Activities - All activities validated by the marshals through the electronic log sheets
- 20% Special Fun Challenges - Points based on the scores from the Special Fun Challenges
- 15% Social Media Posts - Points based on the quantity, quality, and timeliness of the teams’ social media posts throughout their Juan For Fun Backpacker Challenge experience
- Stages of the Competition
- Pre-Challenge Coaching and Send-off
- Top Five (5) teams will converge for the Pre-Challenge Briefing, during which the teams will be thoroughly briefed about the Challenge Proper, right conduct, safety, and other important matters
- Complete attendance of each team is a must. Inability to attend this briefing will cause disqualification of the team
- You will meet your Adventure Coaches and Team Marshals
- You will be handed your official gear (e.g. uniforms, certain gadgets)
- The destinations will be revealed
- Note: You will be given time to research on your itinerary before the first flight
- Challenge Proper
- The Challenge will take the teams to various Cebu Pacific destinations
- The Challenge is to have the most number of fun activities within the duration of the trip with the given travel allowance. Examples of activities: visiting museums, theme parks, churches, and other tourists spots, trying the local delicacies and other fun activities the destination offers
- You are FREE to choose the activities so long as they are within the safety limits prescribed by Cebu Pacific and its Organizers
- Each team must maximize and use up all of their travel allowance
- Special Fun Challenges are also set up in each destination for your team to accomplish in order to earn extra points. Scores from the Special Fun Challenge will be factored into the total scores to determine the final winners
- 1st place: 50 Points
- 2nd place: 30 points
- 3rd place: 20 points
- 4th place: 10 points
- 5th place: 5 points
- Each team's activities are monitored via log sheets. You are required to accomplish these and turn in to your Team Marshal receipts or proofs of purchase. Failure to submit log sheets on the specified deadlines may merit forfeiture of the activities
- Document the fun adventure through photos and videos uploaded on each team members' personal social media accounts with the hashtag #JuanforFun2016 to earn social media points that comprise part of the total points
- Photos and/or videos of activities must be posted within the duration of the Juan For Fun Backpacker Challenge before actual judging
- All announcements will be made online at facebook.com/CebuPacificAir or facebook.com/CebuPacificJFF. Teams will also be notified through phone call and email.
- Previous Juan for Fun Backpacker Challenge finalists are not eligible to apply to give opportunities to new applicants
- The decision of the judges and Cebu Pacific Air is final
