Kokoy F. Guevara Poetry Competition
Calling all talented poets out there! Start composing your craft and showcase your writing flair in the Kokoy F. Guevara Poetry Competition. This event, organized by the late poet's friends and family in partnership with the De La Salle University (DLSU), Department of Literature and the Bienvenido N. Santos Creative Writing Center (BNSCWC), aims to continue Guevarra's work by encouraging interest in poetry in the country and at the same time give talented writers a chance to be recognized in their field. Prepare at least five (5) and not more than ten (10) unpublished poems written in English. Along with the other required documents, submit your entry to kokoyguevaraprize@gmail.com. You can only submit one (1) entry for this competition so submit your best shot for a chance to take home P25,000 cash. The 2nd and 3rd Placers will also each receive cash prizes worth P15,000 and P10,000 respectively.
Contest Requirements:
- Open to poets of all ages, Filipino citizens or of any nationality residing or studying in Iowa, USA
- Entry Guidelines
- At least five (5) and not more than ten (10) unpublished poems written in English
- Must be in PDF format
- Must be typed in size-12 Arial or Times New Roman double-spaced font
- Must be accompanied by a separate page that includes:
- Your complete name, as well as any nickname and/or pseudonym
- 2" x 2" photo
- Date of birth
- Full contact information
- Postal address valid for the next 12 months
- Email address
- Landline phone number
- Mobile number
- For Filipino citizens:
- Scanned copy of passport, driver's license or student ID
- For Iowa, USA residents:
- Scanned copy of driver's license or student ID

- Only one (1) entry per participant will be accepted
- No entry fee required
- Winners are responsible for any taxes and fees resulting from their prizes
- For US entries, the prizes will be the US-Dollar equivalent of the prize amounts, based on the rate of exchange on the day the winners are announced
- Winners will be notified via e-mail, SMS, and/or telephone
- Copyright remains with the author, but the Kokoy F. Guevara Poetry Competition reserves the right to have entries performed or published live, on the internet or in an anthology at any time in the future
