Writing Contests for Students
English teachers can motivate their students by giving out assignments that can give them good grades. But why not go beyond just giving a score incentive and give out CASH incentive as well? Right now, there are 2 writing contests running. One for college students - Chile: Odes from the Philippines and the other for high school students - Environmental Essay contest. The first contest offers HUGE CASH prizes in US $ while the latter contest offers Peso Cash prizes as well as computers for the grand winner.
Contest Requirements:

- All Filipino students from any tertiary education (college) course
- Environmental Essay contest
- Open to all high school students, nationwide
- Chile: Odes from the Philippines
- Create a poem of any form or length on or about the Republic of Chile—its bicentenary, people, scenery, culture and/or society

- Essay Guidelines
- Must be in English
- 1,000 to 1,500 words
- Short bond paper (8.5” x 11”)
- Font - Arial at 11pt
- No names or identifying marks must be written on the essay
- Submit entries online at hedcor.com/essaycontest.php (scroll to end of page)
- You may also submit your entries at any 2GO outlet. Download and complete the entry form and submit along with 5 copies of your essay in a short brown envelope.
- 5 finalists will be chosen from all the entries
- The 5 finalists will be invited for an on-the-spot essay contest on December 10, 2010
