URC Baking Academy & Bake-off

The Universal Robina Corporation Flourish Pilipinas, in partnership with the Tourism Promotions Board, is calling all baking enthusiasts to join the URC Flourish Pilipinas Baking Academy and Bake-off Competition. Choose which category you should join: Professional or Non-Professional. In each category, there will be awards to be given away. For the Professional Category, the Globe Award will be granted to all recipes who used hard flour (URC's Globe or Blend 100 Flour). Also, Sampaguita Award will be awarded to all recipes who used soft flour (URC's Sampaguita Soft Flour). On the other hand, the Daisy Award will be provided to the Non-Professional Category if your recipe has used cake flour (URC's Daisy Cake Flour). Bake your way to the top for a chance to win the Globe Award: P10,000 CASH + 1 Kitchen Aid K45 Mixer + Medal + Supply of participating products, Sampaguita Award: P10,000 CASH + 1 Kitchen Aid K45 Mixer + Medal + Supply of participating products, or Daisy Award: P10,000 CASH + 1 Kitchen Aid Hand Mixer + Medal and Supply of participating products. Lastly, companies and schools represented by the winners shall also receive a trophy.
 
Contest Requirements:
  • Local citizens, 18 years old and above
  • Professional and non-professional bakers
  • URC (Universal Robina Corporation) participating flour products:
    • Globe or Blend 100 Flour
    • Sampaguita Soft Flour
    • Daisy Cake Flour
Contest Mechanics:
  1. Two (2) Categories
    • Professional - Owners and employees of bakeries and bakeshops, independent bakers, baking instructors and professionals
      • Globe Award – For all recipes using hard flour (URC's Globe or Blend 100 Flour)
      • Sampaguita Award – For all recipes using soft flour (URC's Sampaguita Soft Flour)
    • Non-Professional - Students enrolled in Culinary, Baking, Food Technology and Hotel and Restaurant Management courses
      • Daisy Award – For all recipes using cake flour (URC's Daisy Cake Flour) 
  2. Log on to and like URC Flourish Pilipinas Facebook page then fill out the entry form
  3. Create your own original recipe using the participating URC Flour products and join in the bake-off to be held in the following designated areas:
    • GMA - Manila
    • Luzon - Baguio
    • Visayas - Cebu
    • Mindanao - Davao
  4. Submit your recipe, along with the 4R (4"x6") colored picture of the finished product,  to Flourish Pilipinas Facebook Page or email to Kayla Andrea at operations@dtc.com.ph
  5. Judging Criteria
    • 30% Extent of use of URC flours in required category (Globe / Blend 100, Sampaguita, and Daisy)
    • 25% Extent of use of eligible products
    • 20% Taste
    • 15% Appearance,creativity and plating
    • 10% Use of local and indigenous ingredients
  6. All recipes shall be screened and tested by the URC Technical Group which shall determine the finalists who will compete in each area
  7. For each area, there will be two (2) finalists for Globe Award, two (2) finalists for Sampaguita Award, and two (2) finalists for Daisy Award
  8. All student finalists must agree to demonstrate your recipe entry to the URC Technical Team in a separate session in your school or home prior to the actual Bake-Off
  9. All student finalists will each be given P1,000 to cover the cost of your baking demonstration

  • Bake-Off
    • GMA (Manila) - June 15, 2013
    • Luzon (Baguio) - July 6, 2013
    • Visayas (Cebu) - July 27, 2013
    • Mindanao (Davao) - August 10, 2013
Contest Prize: Three (3) winners per area will EACH receive:
  • Professional Category
    • Globe Award - P10,000 CASH + 1 Kitchen Aid K45 Mixer + Medal + Supply of participating products
    • Sampaguita Award - P10,000 CASH + 1 Kitchen Aid K45 Mixer + Medal + Supply of participating products
  • Non-Professional Category
    • Daisy Award - P10,000 CASH + 1 Kitchen Aid Hand Mixer + Medal and Supply of participating products
    • Companies and schools represented by the winners shall also receive a trophy
