In line with Ateneo Video Open's mission to seek fresh new talents and provide a platform for innovation in Philippine cinema, they are inviting every college students to showcase their talents in film making through the AVO (Ateneo Video Open) Competition. Submit your entry in any or on all five (5) categories namely: Experimental, Music Video, Documentary, Short Narrative, and Animation. Also, as recognition to the country's diverse culture that helped shape its film industry, the contest is open to any indigenous dialect. They only require for you to submit a subtitled entry format. There will only be one (1) winner per category. Cash prizes at stake are P3,500 (Best Experimental), P3,500 (Best Music Video), P5,000 (Best Documentary), P4,000 (Best Animation), P8,000 (Best Narrative), and P2,000 (Best Indigenous Language Narrative).


Contest Requirements:
  • Open to all college-level students
    • The director must be an official undergraduate of a college/university during the time of the production
    • For the short narrative category, the scriptwriter must be an official undergraduate of a college/university during the time of the production
  • College graduates may apply for the competition if your videos were made:
    • Within the past year (January 2012 onwards)
    • While in college
  • P150 application fee for every entry
Contest Mechanics:
  1. Log on to Ateneo Video Open contest website and download the application form 
  2. Entry Guidelines:
    • Five (5) Categories
      • Experimental - Not more than 15 min in length
      • Music Video – Any original song by a local artist/band (with proper permission). Not more than 7 minutes
      • Documentary – Any subject. Not more than 25 minutes in length
      • Short Narrative – Any subject or theme (adaptations with proper permission is also accepted). Not more than 25 minutes in length
      • Animation - Music videos or short narratives – both no more than 10 minutes in length
    • Open to any indigenous dialect (non-contemporary Filipino/English entries are required to be subtitled)
    • You must indicate if you have incurred help from professional production houses outside your respective college/university for the making of your video. Only help in technical aspects are permitted (i.e. cinematography, editing, etc.). Indicate the name of the production house and what specific work was done for the video
  3. Submission Guidelines: Place the ff. inside a short brown envelope
    • Accomplished application form
    • List of participants
    • Three (3) copies of your entry - Must be submitted in .avi data file on DVD format or directly to DVD
  4. Along with the P150 application fee, submit all the entry requirements at:

  6. You may join one or more categories and may submit any number of entries for each category
  7. One (1) entry can only be submitted to one (1) category
  8. Entries selected for the finals cannot be withdrawn from the competition
  9. There shall be a list of finalists released for each category
  10. There will be one (1) winner per category together with other sub-category awards. (i.e. Best Director, Editing, Cinematography, Screenplay - for short narrative)
