Recently, Google has launched Gmail-to-SMS, a FREE service wherein Filipinos can send and receive text messages from Gmail to Globe, Smart, and Sun subscribers. This brings a new level of flexibility and mobility to Gmail users. Unlike Chikka messenger that needs to be downloaded first to your PC and registered to mobile phone before use, Gmail allows you to only send an instant message from the new SMS box in Gmail's chat window. Recipients can reply with a text message from their mobile phone for only P2.00 (as compared to Chikka's P2.50), which will appear on the sender's Gmail interface. Users can initially send up to fifty (50) text message. If you don’t receive replies to your messages, your allocation will be reduced until it reaches zero. Every 24 hours, you will be given an additional 1 Free text. You also get to replenish your free text allocation. Every time someone replies to your text from Gmail, you get 5 extra Free texts. Another innovative way to communicate just by using your Gmail account.
