'I Am a Changemaker' 2011

The British Council is once again looking for a new breed of entrepreneurs who dream up of innovative solutions to help solve problems in their communities. A changemaker who will make an impact in the social enterprise. Just like last year, four (4) great business plans will be awarded P100,000 each, plus another P100,000 special prize from Starbucks. Tip: You can seek assistance from your mentors and other experts, however the proposal should prove that you are the owner and implementer of the venture.







Contest Requirements:

  • A team of Filipino citizens, 16-28 years old
  • New breed of social entrepreneurs
Contest Mechanics:

  1. Log on to British Council website and download application form and other important documents
  2. Email application form and venture proposal to changemaker@britishcouncil.org.ph
  3. Entries exceeding 6MB in size should enclose a CD copy in a brown envelope and address to

  4. Entry Guidelines
    • Venture should exist primarily to a social problem
    • Only one (1) proposal can be submitted per team
    • Must be limited to 30 pages only, excluding appendices
    • Should be typed, single-spaced, 12-point font, with one inch margin
    • Includes a brief one-page CV of each team member
    • Should have demonstrable financial viability, whether it isfor-profit or not-for-profit
    • Should not have won in other business plan or project grant competitions of the same magnitude (national), or have receivedthe same amount of funding for its implementation
    • Should not be entered on behalf, or as a sub-project of, a non-profit, a private company or a local government unit (LGU)
    • Must be written in plain English in the format prescribed by the British Council

  6. You can seek the advice of a mentor or an expert, but your proposal should demonstrate that you must be the principalowners and implementers of the venture

  • October 7, 2011 - Announcement of shortlisted proposals
  • October 24-26, 2011 - Social enterprise plan/Start-up training
  • October 27, 2011 -Semi final round
  • October 28, 2011 - Final presentations and awarding
